Modernize and Align a Historic Brand

NSBE needed to elevate the value of their complex, global organization.

During 50 years of supporting K-12 and collegiate students, professionals, and advocates, the National Society of Black Engineers had accumulated layers—and more layers—of complexity. They needed to streamline their website, operations, and message delivery to re-align with members at every level.

To meet their objectives, Refactored started at the heart of their organization—interviewing members and stakeholders across their United States and international chapters. Those conversations enabled a baseline for aligning with member needs. Leveraging that understanding, we implemented strategic changes including:

  • Replacing the Association Management Software (AMS) with Fonteva, a centralized management platform

  • Integrating their website and core business applications to streamline workflows

  • Conceptualizing the new brand’s look and feel, site navigation, and user experience

  • Modernizing and mobile-optimizing the website

  • Simplifying site navigation to address the individual journey of each member type

Now, NSBE is empowered to continue ongoing improvements and optimizations that elevate their story—and showcase their commitment to their mission and their members. We continue to support NSBE with web enhancements and development, key application integrations, and vendor and technology sourcing.
